Green business cars
It's crucial that employers offer green options in their business fleet. Windsor Vehicle Leasing look at the most environmentally-friendly business cars on the market so that you can boost the green credentials of your fleet.
There are a number of mid-sized models available which emit under 135g of CO2 per km, including the Peugeot 308 and some Audi A3 hatchbacks: the TDI 105 is a great example. The Toyota Prius, one of the larger green cars on the market, emits just 104g CO2 per km thanks to its hybrid technology combining an electric motor and a petrol engine. The Volkswagen Bluemotion range, including the Passat, also makes the most of fuel-efficient technology, resulting in emissions of 137g of CO2 per km.
There are more radical alternatives, although we don't believe that electric cars (despite their zero-emissions) yet offer the business world a viable green alternative. But how about vehicles running on alternative fuel sources such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)? The Silver Vauxhall Zafira Club 1,600, Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 litre and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Sport are all examples of alternative fuel source vehicles. Availability is still limited in the UK and these new vehicles can be costly to maintain, but it's a development well worth keeping an eye on for the future of green business car fleets.
For staff who clock up high mileage, diesel cars like the Ford Focus, Peugeot 407 or VW Golf offer a green choice.
